Christoph Neugebauer We vertrouwen in onze praktijk al jarenlang op de producten van Ultradent Products. En dat is niet zonder reden. We waren dan ook meteen onder de indruk van de nieuwste ontwikkeling op het gebied van polymerisatielampen: de [VALO X-polymerisatielamp](https://www.ultradentproducts.nl/products/categories/whitening/tray-fabrication/curing-lights/valo-x?sku=5973-). Dit is de opvolger van de [VALO™](https://www.ultradentproducts.nl/products/categories/whitening/tray-fabrication/curing-lights/valo-cordless?sku=5941-) en de [VALO™ Grand](https://www.ultradentproducts.nl/products/categories/whitening/tray-fabrication/curing-lights/valo-grand). We kunnen ons nu al niet meer voorstellen dat we er niet mee werken. De lamp is lang, slank en rank door zijn platte kop en lichte gewicht. De lens heeft een prettige diameter van 12,5 mm. Er zit een gebruiksvriendelijke bedieningsknop op de boven- en onderkant van de polymerisatielamp. Daarmee activeer je het apparaat en kun je tussen de verschillende standen schakelen. De VALO X-polymerisatielamp kan zowel met als zonder snoer worden gebruikt. We kozen voor gebruik zonder snoer; de lamp werkt dan op batterijen. Als we later toch met snoer willen gaan werken, hoeven we alleen maar de netvoedingsadapter aan te sluiten. De belangrijkste taak van een polymerisatielamp is natuurlijk de betrouwbare uitharding van adhesieven en alle composietmaterialen, zowel bij directe als indirecte restauraties. Daarom beschikt de VALO X-polymerisatielamp over een continue standaardmodus met blauw licht en een belichtingssterkte van 1.100 mW/cm2 gedurende 10 seconden (13,5 joule). Daarnaast heeft hij nog een gepulseerde Xtra Power-modus met dubbel vermogen in de halve belichtingstijd (overeenkomend met 2.200 mW/cm2 gedurende 5 seconden (13,5 joule)), verdeeld over 3 korte cycli (pulsen). De geïntegreerde acceleratiesensor schakelt tussen deze twee standen wanneer je de kop van de lamp naar beneden beweegt, zoals bij een trommelstokbeweging. Je hoeft dus geen knop of iets anders in te drukken. Een heel elegante en intuïtieve functie waarmee het veel gemakkelijker is om met de polymerisatielamp te werken. De VALO X-polymerisatielamp wordt geleverd met vijf extra lenzen. Eerst wil ik iets vertellen over de twee lenzen voor uitharding: Bij het cementeren van veneers kun je, voorafgaand aan de uiteindelijke uitharding, met de PointCure™ Lens op een veilige manier overtollig materiaal verwijderen dankzij de snelle puntsgewijze uitharding in het centrale deel van een translucente restauratie. Dat is heel handig. Bij directe composietrestauraties helpt de ProxiCure™ Ball Lens bij het creëren van voldoende approximale contacten, doordat hij alle gangbare matrixsystemen aanpast aan het desbetreffende buurelement. Een geweldig hulpmiddel! Bij alle concurrerende producten op de markt zou dit waarschijnlijk het einde zijn van het gebruikersverslag, maar over de VALO X-polymerisatielamp ben ik nog niet uitgepraat! De VALO X-polymerisatielamp assisteert ons ook bij de diagnostiek. Hij heeft twee diagnostische hulpstanden, een met uv-licht en een met wit licht. Aan de ene kant geeft dit ons ‘echt licht’: we kunnen distale gebieden in de mondholte verlichten om bepaalde details te zien, we kunnen de kleurtint bepalen en we kunnen veilig de juiste diagnose stellen. Het uv-licht helpt daarnaast om composietresten en andere materialen met fluorescerende bestanddelen zichtbaar te maken. Dat is erg handig bij het verwijderen van oude vullingen! De al eerder genoemde sensor speelt ook een rol bij het schakelen tussen de verschillende diagnostische hulpstanden: met een horizontale beweging van de pols kan de tandarts de stand wijzigen. Een erg geslaagde oplossing!
