Florian Bremer Polymerisatielampen zijn onmisbaar geworden sinds er bij tandheelkundige behandelingen steeds vaker gebruik wordt gemaakt van composiet en keramiek. Praktijkteams werken dan ook elke dag meermaals met een dergelijke lamp. Als behandelaar wil je natuurlijk dat een polymerisatielamp betrouwbaar is en eenvoudig in gebruik. Toen wij op zoek waren naar een nieuwe polymerisatielamp die voldoet aan de nieuwste technische standaarden, ontdekten wij de[VALO™](https://www.ultradentproducts.nl/products/categories/whitening/tray-fabrication/curing-lights/valo-x?sku=5973-) X-ledpolymerisatielamp (Ultradent Products). Met zijn grotere lens (diameter 12,5 mm) heeft deze lamp echt een toegevoegde waarde bij grote caviteiten, omdat je hiermee in één keer het hele oppervlak kunt belichten. Dankzij de slanke vorm van deze polymerisatielamp reikt hij goed tot in de distale gebieden. Ook handig is dat je de lamp met of zonder snoer kunt gebruiken. Voor de meeste behandelingen gebruiken wij de Xtra Power-modus, waarbij drie intensieve lichtpulsen worden afgegeven (elk van 1,66 seconden, met een totaal van 13,5 joules) met een afkoelingsperiode van telkens 0,5 seconden tussen iedere puls. Onze patiënten vinden deze stand prettiger, doordat er minder warmte bij wordt gegenereerd. Volgens Ultradent Products wordt in de Xtra Power-modus en de standaardmodus dezelfde hoeveelheid lichtenergie gegenereerd. De VALO X-polymerisatielamp kan ook helpen bij diagnostiek. Dankzij de geïntegreerde standen voor uv-licht en wit licht zijn er veel toepassingen mogelijk. In totaal zijn er drie lenzen voor diagnostische toepassingen, die door het gebruik van een magneetsysteem snel te vervangen zijn. Wij werken graag met de TransLume™-lens, omdat deze dankzij zijn langere golflengte heel geschikt is voor het opsporen van barstjes, fracturen en defecten. Verder is er de Interproximal-lens die geschikt is voor het zichtbaar maken van laesies in approximale gebieden. Daarnaast gebruiken wij ook vaak de PointCure™-lens, voor het puntsgewijs uitharden van veneers in het frontgebied. We zijn ook heel tevreden over het gebruiksgemak van de VALO X-polymerisatielamp. Volgens de fabrikant heeft de batterij voldoende vermogen voor tot wel 120 uithardingscycli voordat hij opnieuw moet worden opgeladen. Dat betekent dat de behandelaar altijd kan rekenen op een goede en veilige uitharding. Ook de bediening van de VALO X-lamp is eenvoudig, omdat hij maar twee knoppen heeft. Met beide knoppen zet je de ledpolymerisatielamp aan! De bovenste knop dient ook voor het schakelen tussen de uithardingsstanden. Hiervoor moet de knop alleen maar wat langer ingedrukt worden gehouden. Met de onderste knop kan de behandelaar de diagnostische standen bedienen. Een andere functie die voor ons compleet nieuw was: de polymerisatielamp schakelt ook tussen de verschillende standen zonder dat een van beide knoppen ingedrukt moet worden. Een eenvoudige handbeweging in de juiste richting is voldoende. Samenvattend kunnen wij zeggen dat deze polymerisatielamp ons in alle opzichten heeft overtuigd.
